Newlands Sports - Batting Lane Terms and Conditions of Hire

Welcome to Newlands Sports. Please read the following Terms and Conditions carefully before making a booking or using the batting lanes. By completing your booking, you accept and agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions.

1. Bookings and Payments

  • Booking Process: All bookings must be made online via the appropriate booking form. The person making the booking must be over 18 years of age and will be considered the ā€˜customerā€™. If booking on behalf of an organisation or club, the name of the organisation must be specified, and the organisation will be considered the customer and jointly responsible for the booking.
  • Payment: Full payment is required at the time of booking to confirm your session. Payments are made securely via debit/credit card through our online system. You will receive a confirmation email detailing your booking and session times.

2. Cancellations and Refunds

  • Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be madeĀ by telephone 0191 3759527 or by emailĀ sales@newlands-sports.storeĀ stating your booking/order number, that can be found on your confirmation email. If you cancel your booking within 48 hours of the activity commencing, no refunds or credits will be provided. For cancellations made with more than 48 hours' notice, you willĀ be offered a full refund orĀ aĀ batting laneĀ creditĀ to use on another occasion, depending upon lane availability.
  • Refunds: If the facility is closed or unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, you will be offered a full refund or an option to reschedule your session.

3. Use of the Batting Lane

  • Purpose: The batting lane must only be used for its intended purpose. Participants are required to follow all posted rules and instructions provided by Newlands Sports.
  • Age Restrictions: Users must beĀ 18 yearsĀ or older to use the batting laneĀ unsupervised. All minors must be supervised by a responsible adult.
  • Late Arrival:Ā Ā We ask that all customers arrive on time for their scheduled batting lane reservation. If you arrive late, the rental period will not be extended, and your session will end at the originally scheduled time. We encourage customers to arrive early to ensure they can fully enjoy their time in the batting lane.
  • Equipment: Appropriate footwear must be worn. No cricket spikes allowed. Indoor sports shoes are mandatory. The maximum capacity per lane isĀ 2Ā people. With prior consultation, Newlands Sports may, at its discretion, allowĀ more than 2Ā people per lane at the hirerā€™s own risk.
  • Protective Gear: Participants under the age of 18 must wear cricket helmets when using the net facilities with hard cricket balls. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure all minors are wearing and using the appropriate protective equipment.
  • Food and Drinks: No food is allowed inside the batting lane. Only plastic sports bottles are allowed. All beverages must be consumed outside the batting area.
  • Bowling Machine: When hiring a bowling machine, you will receive 24 balls. For each ball not returned, a Ā£5 fee will be charged.
  • Cleanliness and Damage: Please ensure the batting area is kept clean. No dirty shoes are allowed in the lane. A Ā£10 cleaning fee will be charged if the mat is damaged or soiled during the session. You will also be responsible for any damage caused to the facility or equipment during your booking.
  • Premises Vacating: The premises must be fully vacated by the time the session ends. If additional time is needed and the batting lane is available after your session, a surcharge will be applied.
  • Smoking and Animals: Smoking is not permitted in any part of the premises. No animals are allowed, except for service animals accompanying registered blind individuals.

4. Liability and Responsibility

  • Liability Waiver: By using the batting lane, you acknowledge and accept the inherent risks associated with batting activities. You agree to use the facilities at your own risk and indemnify Newlands Sports against any accidents or injuries that may occur during your session.
  • Vehicle and Property: Newlands Sports does not accept liability for loss or damage to any vehicle or personal property while on the premises.
  • Indemnification: You agree to indemnify and hold Newlands Sports harmless from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising out of your use of the facility, including any damage to the property or injury to yourself or others.

5. Premises and Conduct

  • Behaviour: The facility must be used responsibly. Any disruptive or inappropriate behaviour may result in the termination of the session without a refund.
  • Photographic Equipment: No photographic equipment is allowed without express written permission from Newlands Sports.
  • Public Liability Insurance: Clubs, schools, universities, corporations, and associations must provide valid proof of public liability insurance with at least Ā£5,000,000 cover before using the facilities.

6. Health and Safety

  • Health Requirements: All users must be in good health and physically capable of using the batting lane safely. If in doubt, please seek advice from a medical professional before using the facilities.
  • Fire Safety: Hirers are responsible for familiarising themselves with the fire safety procedures, including escape routes, fire extinguishers, alarms, and emergency exits. It is the responsibility of the hirer to inform all participants of these procedures before using the facility.
